Project Details
Description
There will be build a 6 MW HVDC Light connection between a wind farm of 4 large wind turbines and a 60 kV transformer station near Tjaereborg. The length of the HVDC connection is about 5 km.
HVDC Light is a new technology developed by ABB in which are used high voltage self-commutating semiconductor switches.
The purpose of this project is to investigate circumstances about HVDC connections of large off shore wind farms with the electrical grid ashore.
The project is financed by ELTRA and ABB will deliver and commission the HVDC equipment.
Department of Power Electric Engineering participates in the project and is responsible for measurements and data treatment.
