    The project aims to develop new signal processing algorithms for ground penetrating radars (GPRs). The new algorithms are based upon mathematical models describing the interaction between the electromagnetic waves employed by the GPR and the complicated environment consisting of air, ground, and objects buried therein. The mathematical models are obtained from Maxwell's equations. The new signal processing algorithms makes it possible to compute much more accurate images of objects buried in the ground than what is possible with existing commercial GPRs.
