Project Details
Description
This project aims to develop a circular construction material by stabilizing boring mud from drilling operations for use as backfill in pipe trenches—reducing reliance on natural aggregates and minimizing environmental impact.
The project includes full-scale testing of buried pipe systems to calibrate and validate a numerical model of the trench structure. A life cycle assessment (LCA) will quantify the environmental benefits in typical district heating applications.
Innovation will focus on material stabilization, experimental design, and sensing integration, supporting greener pipe construction and paving the way for self-sensing infrastructure in geotechnical applications.
