Description
This project is being conducted in collaboration with Volvo Car Corporation of Sweden. The project aims to provide a sound theoretical basis for the functional modelling of vehicles using e.g. the function/means tree.
The project requires the integration of technical, semantic and business functions into a singular model of the vehicle. Initial results suggest that a common approach is feasible for the technical and semantic functions of the vehicle, but business functions should not be actively carried by the vehicle.
The use of function/means tree provides a means to link functions to a product structure model based upon Andreasen's Domain Theory.
This project is the focus of a Master Thesis project ending in March 2000.
