    Light weight construction has been one of the major requirements of the automotive industry. More extensive use of laser-welded tailored blanks, together with higher strength steel grades, manes a weight reduction of 20 % possible, with equivalent or better behaviour of the structure and the parts. This approach can also significantly reduce investement in tooling.
    This new technology requires knowledge on processing of the materials as well as performance of laser welded blanks.
    The focus of this project will adress the lack of undrstanding by investigation, both practically and numerically,the formability of laser-welded tailored blanks.
