Description
As of January 2017, a three-year trial period was initiated allowing accompanied driving at the age of 17 in Denmark. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the safety effect of allowing accompanied driving at the age of 17. The evaluation includes several elements: 1. A literature study on safety effects of accompanied driving. 2. A crash data based analysis of crashes involving young drivers including a comparison of crashes involving young persons licensed at the age of 17 and at older ages. 3. Mapping and evaluation of the usage and attitude towards accompanied driving among youth and their parents based on survey and interview data. 4. Mapping of perceived barriers and facilitators related to accompanied driving based on expert interview. The project is financed by the Danish Road Safety Agency.
