Project Details
Description
The principal purpose of the EMISAR flights is to collect L- and C-band polarimetric SAR data as well as interferometric SAR data for the scientific studies conducted by DCRS. However, some flights have an additional technological purpose as they serve as a test and verification of new EMISAR options.
In 1997 three campaigns with a total of ten flights were conducted. The April and June flights covered areas in Denmark while the August flights collected data from Greenland and Iceland. Two additional flights over Denmark were cancelled due to aircraft shortage.
Some of the L-band data are intended for RTI, namely those related to the studies of sand dune dynamics, glacier dynamics, and ice cab elevation mapping. During a couple of flights the usual navigation data were supplemented by kinematic differential GPS measurements which potentially have an accuracy of 0.1 m.
