Project Details

Description

Electrostatic filters are widely used for removal of particles from flue gases and other industrial exhaust gases. The electrical conductivity of the porous deposition on the electrodes is a crucial parameter in the design and operation of electrostatic filters since it influences the stability and efficiency of the filters.
The purpose of the theoretical and experimental work is to investigate the transport mechanisms in the porous bed, to identify the parameters influencing the effective electrical conductivity, and to derive a mathematical model.
An experimental set-up has been constructed and experiments have been and will be performed for a number of parameters. A tentative mathematical model has been derived. It is evaluated and adjusted on the basis of the achieved experimental results.
