Documentation and Analysis of Ancient Ships

The Danish National Research Foundation has funded The Danish National Museum's Centre for Maritime Archaeology (NMF) project for development of methods for the documentation and analysis of ships from the past. In step with progress in computer techniques, opportunities have opened up for making calculations and graphic analysis on these ships, in a much faster and more precise way than previously. This research programme involves a collection of data about the ships from the past, various hydrostatic calculations and some graphic treatment of the ships before it is stored in a database. Furthermore, a detailed structural analysis of one of the ships will be made using FEM.
