Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is to support the ongoing process of developing long-term management plans for short-lived species of great importance to the Danish fishery and to maintain the international position of Danish fisheries research.
The project contains the following objectives: (1) provide a data-driven basis for developing an alternative management model for sandeel in the North Sea, (2) Evaluate a portfolio of management strategies for short-lived species in the North Sea, and (3) contribute with new data to the ICES multi-species model that provide natural mortality estimates to be used in single-species stock assessment models and in relation to an ongoing international effort to take om a holistic ecosystem approach to management.
The project also include scientist-stakeholder collaboration and participation in international meeting in EU and ICES.
The project is coordinated by DTU Aqua and funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and the Danish Fisheries Agency.
Research area: Marine Populations and Ecosystem Dynamics
