Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is to develop and test a new codend concept for bottom trawl fishery that optimize size selection to secure better appliance with the Common Fisheries Policy and the landing obligation while optimizing catch value through high quality products, better fish welfare and minimizing damage on unwanted species.
All this is achieved by optimal escape gabs in the codend that in shape and size correspond to species-specific morphology and species behavior, a low-damage and escape friendly low-flow environment during fishing which minimize negative effects of catch size and towing time.
Funding
The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Danish Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme (EMFAF).
Research area: Fisheries Technology
