Database on wind characteristics

An establishment of a database containing and describing wind measurements in different types of terrain is an important ongoing project funded by EU. In the database a full description of the equipment used for the measurements is also given and the database is made available through the Internet. The database will be an important tool in determining standards of how the turbulence should be implemented in
aeroelastic computations of wind turbines and can also be used to estimate the loading on other in/offshore structures. Furthermore, the database can be used to estimate the maximum wind speed, which a wind turbine will see in its lifetime.
