Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is the overall coordination of the Danish fisheries data collection programme for the support for scientific advice and the management of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP, 1380/2013). In addition the coordination of the data management of the data collected by DTU Aqua, the data analysis including providing data in accordance with official data calls and the data use in form of providing scientific expertise in e.g. ICES expert groups and the ICES groups providing advice for the EU Commission and the ICES member states.
The Danish data collection programme in accordance with the DCF (EU Data Collection Framework) is carried out by DTU Aqua (main contributor), Statistics Denmark and Institute for Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen.
The project includes two parts:
Part 1. Coordination of the Danish data collection program and the tasks related to the role as National Correspondent.
Part 2. This part of the project covers data management, data analysis and data use. The tasks in this part of the project are:
- Management of data including development and management of the national fisheries databases.
- Data analysis in relation to the ICES advise processes and submission/delivering of data according to data calls.
- Ensuring participation of scientific expertise in ICES data collection expert groups, assessment expert groups and advice drafting groups.
An important task is also the coordination of intersessional work (ISSGs) being carried out in the established working groups under the Baltic and North Sea, respectively. In these ISSGs, the many tasks of data collection are coordinated across Member States. Methodology is discussed and standardized, survey are coordinated, innovation tasks are being identified etc.
A large number of DTU Aqua employees are involved in the work.
Partners
National Institute of Aquatic Resources, DTU Aqua (coordinator)
Statistics Denmark
Institute for Food and Resource Economics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
Funding
The data collection is co-funded by the European Union through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
