Cultivation of new red macroalgae species to support the development of commercial seaweed production in Denmark (113240)

Project Details

Description

The main objective of the project NyeTangArter is to support the ongoing development in diversifying seaweed species for cultivation amongst Danish seaweed farmers to improve the feasibility of open water cultivation. The potential of cultivating some new summer crops (Gracillaria gracilis and Porphyra sp.) after the conventional winter-crop (sugar kelp) on a seaweed farm is demanded and will improve stabilization of the value chain for cultivated seaweed biomass. Furthermore, the project will host two workshops for Danish seaweed farmers with the aim to enhance the educational level to support the farmers.
