Computational Fluid Dynamics investigations of large hot water tanks

    Project Details

    Description

DTU Department of Civil Engineering has developed special expertise within computational fluid dynamics calculations of large hot water tanks, while NewHeat, France has developed special expertise within experimental investigations of large hot water tank. The aim of the project is to study the impact of the detailed geometry of a tank as well as its stratifications devices design on the heat storage performance. DTU will be responsible for CFD simulations of thermal stratification in hot water storage tank for large solar heating system, while newHeat is responsible for model validation.
DTU will benefit from calculation methods developed in the project, which could be used for teaching in the course CFD on Buildings.
