Project Details
Description
This project documents effects of mussel reefs on marine mobile fauna. This is done using baited stereo cameras that are deployed on mussel reefs and in suitable control areas without mussel reefs. The study is examining the hypothesis that blue mussel reefs provide a productive marine habitat that support specific communities.
The project is also examining mussel reef definitions with regard to the Habitat Directive of the European Union, as well as testing various methods for mapping mussel reefs in collaboration with recreational fishers in Denmark.
Funding
The project is funded by the Danish Rod and Net Fish License Funds.
Research area: Coastal Ecology
