Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is to create a national center across different institutions to ensure that marine nature restoration in Denmark takes place on a knowledge-based basis, so that the investments are optimal and ecological cound. The purpose of the center is, through the collection, mapping and processing of existing and new knowledge, to deliver know-how that enables local, municipal and national actors to successfully implement various types of marine nature restoration projects. In doing so, the center will contribute to optimizing the overall package of ecosystem services that nature restoration can contribute in Denmark: Improved environment/state of nature, greater biodiversity, storage of carbon, immobilization of nutrients, fishing and natural coastal protection in Danish waters as well as supporting and qualifying activities within the mentioned areas. The center contributes to the restoration of boulder reefs, eelgrass beds, biogenic reefs and coastal lagoons.
