Project Details
Description
This project will design and calculate the costs of a Close Kin Mark Recapture (CKMR) study of the Northeast Atlantic mackerel stock. CKMR has the potential to provide a new and independent data source for mackerel stock assessment, making it robust and accurate. However, such a study would require both a significant initial investment and high ongoing costs, so meticulous planning is crucial before embarking on the data-intensive collection process.
This project aims to:
- Design CKMR for the mackerel stock.
- Estimate the costs associated with such data collection.
- Calculate the potential improvement in stock assessment.
Funding
The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Danish Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme (EMFAF).
