Description

Uncovering genes that give Campylobacter jejuni specific properties that allow the bacterium to survive in the environment, in food packaging, on materials and in hosts can help us find the isolates that pose a greater or lesser threat as zoonosis (virulence genes). By using historical whole genome sequence data, and supplementing with additional human isolates during the project period, the project will investigate the presence of described virulence genes in Campylobacter jejuni found in the food chain and in human isolates.
