Brain function is underlined by both the brain network and chemical neuronal signalling. Imaging techniques is the key to discover the synergistic imbalances of these features in disease. We have developed a new imaging modality based on scattered light to map the whole-brain connectome of a rodent brain. For the first time, whole-brain neuronal connectome mapping and chemical neuronal signalling can be combined in basic research.
