A network model of oil/water flow

    Project Details

    Description

One of the techniques of oil recovery involves the displacement of oil from
the reservoir by the injection of water.
The flow of oil and water in this process
can be simulated by a network model consisting of a regular lattice of
pores connected by throats. The model is
nonlinear due to capillary forces that
block the flow between neighboring pores of different phases under certain
    conditions. This project is concerned
with the mathematical properties of the
    model and its numerical solution.
