A 60 MHz radio echo sounder, previously developed by EMI for sounding of ice caps and glaciers, has been upgraded and applied for planned mappings of the elevation and thickness of Greenland glaciers. The upgrading includes a new antenna, suitable for a small aircraft, and a new digital data acquisition system with azimuth filtering of the data, on-line pre-processing, and display.
