Interdisciplinary tools for identification and quantification of groundwater contamination arising from point sources

The PhD study aims to develop and implement new field methods to identify and quantify organic groundwater contamination from contaminated sites. The study takes a field approach, where geologic characterization methods, geophysical mapping, contaminated site monitoring and mapping, and groundwater contaminant discharge measurement methods will be combined. The focus of the study will mainly be on contaminant hydrogeology, including characterization and quantification of the contaminant mass discharge to streams, but will have the important task of integrating these methods together with the geophysical/geological approaches developed. The PhD study will be carried out in close collaboration with the partners in the project GEOCON (Advancing GEOlogical geophysical and CONtaminated site investigation) including, Aarhus University (contributing with knowledge on geophysics), GEUS (contributing with knowledge on geology) and the consultant company Orbicon.
