Uffe Høgsbro Thygesen arbejder stokastiske dynamiske systemer, altså med matematiske metoder til at beskrive og analysere systemer der udvikler sig tilfældigt eller uforudsigeligt i tid. Hans specielle interesse er stokastiske differentialligninger og deres anvendelse i videnskaberne til analyse, statistisk inferens, og optimering. Han har specielt erfaring fra områderne marin biologi og havforskning, hvor han har brugt denne type modeller til at beskrive såvel dyrs bevægelser som udviklingen af økosystemer. Han er civilingeniør fra DTU (1994) og har en ph.d.-grad også fra DTU (1999). Uffe Høgsbro Thygesen underviser i Diffusion og Stokastiske Differentialligninger, og i Matematisk Biologi.
