Hello, I am Suguang. I am a researcher at DTU Wind Energy. I am working on a couple of challenging and interesting projects supported by Denmark and the EU.
Currently, I am actively working on the following projects:
  • CCA project on digital twins and dynamic surrogate models of wind turbines
  • HiperWind: HIghly advanced Probabilistic design and Enhanced Reliability methods for high-value, cost-efficient offshore WIND. I am working on wake parameterization, non-Gaussian turbulence, and dynamic surrogate models.
  • FloatStep: design optimization of floating offshore wind turbines with frequency-domain models

Previously I have participated in the following projects:

  • SELMA: Fail-safe structural optimization
  • InnoDyn: Integrated nonlinear analysis and optimization of dynamic systems
  • NoVib: The Nonlinear Tuned Vibration Absorber
  • MEMS Frequency Converters Based on Nonlinear Resonances

Research areas

My research and teaching focus on digitalization in wind energy, including digital twins of wind turbines and farms, and next generation digital design tools of support structures for offshore wind turbines.

  • Digital twins of wind turbines and farms; constrained simulation of Gaussian and non-Gaussian turbulence and wave; real-time data assimilation of digital wind farm; remaining useful life estimation; mooring failure detection and prediction.
  • Data-driven design of floating platforms and mooring systems for offshore wind turbines and farms with machine learning and deep learning (latent variables).
  • 3D free-form topology optimization design of jacket support structures and floating platforms for offshore wind turbines suitable for additive manufacturing and robot fabrication
