Expertise

Sine has for the last year worked in the QSAR group at the Division of Toxicology and Risk Assessment, National Food Institute. Through this work she has obtained both theoretical and practical experience with different QSAR methodologies and methods for validating QSAR models. She has enhanced her knowledge about the endocrine system and how disturbance of mechanisms involved in this system may potentially lead to adverse outcomes. This knowledge was gained during the development and validation of QSAR models for binding to the thyroid receptor alpha and beta as well as her work with documenting existing QSAR models for estrogen receptor binding and activation, androgen receptor antagonism, binding to the pregnane X receptor and developmental toxicity. Both as research assistant and PhD student she has been involved in projects for the Danish EPA. She has participated in workshops and conferences related to QSAR and toxicology.
