Use of safety barriers in safety critical domains (process industry, oil & gas, renewable energy, public transportation). Interaction between safety management and safety barrier performance.

Responsible for the wind-tunnel modelling study for the Hong Kong. North Lantau Development Study
Responsible for the co-ordination of the following CEC international projects:
- MTH physical modelling of jet fires (1988-1991)
- STEP Jet fire interactions with vessels containing flammable liquids (JIVE) (1991-1994)
- STEP Research on the dispersion of two phase flashing releases-FLADIS (1991-1994)
