Profile

Mohammad Mustafa Ghafurian is an academic expert with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (thermo-fluid), earned in December 2019 from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. His doctoral thesis, titled “Experimental Investigation of Solar Steam Generation by Nanotechnology and Natural Materials,” explored innovative methods for harvesting solar energy using natural materials such as wood. This groundbreaking research contributed to advancements in renewable energy technologies. During his Ph.D., Ghafurian also served as a visiting researcher at Xi’an Jiaotong University, further enhancing his expertise and international collaborations. Following his doctorate, he spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. His postdoctoral work, funded by the National Elites Foundation and the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF Grant No. 9902029), focused on passive and active cooling systems for oil transformers.
In the first half of 2023, Dr. Ghafurian joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ferdowsi University as an assistant professor. Later that year, he moved to the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where he joined the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (DTU-Construct) as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellow. His research at DTU focuses on developing innovative heat pipe (HP) applications for cooling and energy harvesting (HYHP). Afterwards, he continued his Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship at the Chemistry Department of TU Wien, working on interdisciplinary issues related to applied research. Currently, he is conducting research at DTU-Construct, inspired by nature and passive devices to support sustainable energy sectors.
