Meriel J. Bittner is currently a Postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Her research is in the field of microbial ecology and centers around understanding microbial (bacteria and archaea) interactions and community dynamics. By deciphering the chemical language employed by microorganisms, Meriel aims to enable biotechnological use of microorganisms and to contribute to understanding environmental biogeochemical processes.
Meriel received her PhD from the University of Copenhagen in September 2023, where she investigated the dynamics of the essential micronutrient vitamin B1 in coastal waters.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
Marine Microbiology, PhD, Vitamin B1 Dynamics in Coastal Waters, University of Copenhagen
Award Date: 8 Sept 2023
Microbial Ecology, MSc, Biogeographical patterns of Marine Group II and Marine Group III Euryarchaeota along a transect of the Pacific, University of Vienna
Award Date: 19 Sept 2019
