Profile

Meriel J. Bittner is currently a Postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Her research is in the field of microbial ecology and centers around understanding microbial (bacteria and archaea) interactions and community dynamics. By deciphering the chemical language employed by microorganisms, Meriel aims to enable biotechnological use of microorganisms and to contribute to understanding environmental biogeochemical processes.

Meriel received her PhD from the University of Copenhagen in September 2023, where she investigated the dynamics of the essential micronutrient vitamin B1 in coastal waters.
