DNA and protein microarray technology: Function of biomolecules on surfaces, immobilisation of DNA and proteins to surfaces, genotyping, antibody assays, detection technologies and clinical performance of my invention gradient processing of DNA microarrays.
Cell culture on chip: design of large combinatory assay system for high throughput cell analysis, biocompatibility issues of perfusion and programming of cells by multiple fluidic streams
Microfluidics:design fluidics networks to solve limitation in molecular and cell based assays. Often I utilize arrays of fluidics streams in combination with biochemical arrays. I seek solution that can be utilized by end users and develop fluidics components to that end including good optimal quality of chips for time laps microscopy and interconnection and pumping for simplicity and robustness.
High throughput screening of biological: This is a novel acvitivity employing microfluidics droplet technology. Curretly the screening deals with antibody, phage diplay and bacterial promoter libraries.
Management skills:
Personal development courses
The major research line is to create in vivo like condition in vitro and to monitor, in real time, intracellular events like the regulation of key genes. Currently, the technology is used for stem cell research. The problems investigated are to control and increase the efficiency of stem cell differentiation (mostly adult stem cells like nerve stem cells and adipocyte stem cells) and migration to sites of injury (mesenchymal stem cells). The aim of the research is to find tools based to gain new biological knowledge. The approach is integrating many fields of technology, including micro and nanotechnology, automation, surface chemistry and molecular biology. A lesser part of the research interests is microarray technology and its applications in cell function, genetics, proteomics and implementation in point of care devices. In this research line, the interests are in mechanistic insight of biomolecule/surface interactions, assay development strategies and surface chemistries.
