Personal profile


I'm Director of Data Science and Automation at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability. In this role I'm responsible for developing data science and automation infrastructure to support our basic research as well as commercialization-oriented research.


My research work is focused on data science for cell factory development including:

  • development of workflows for high-throughput omics data generation
  • mining and visualization of big biological datasets, and
  • genome-scale modeling for cell factory design


Most of our research funding is from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the European Commission Horizon 2020 program or Innovation Foundation Denmark. I coordinate the EU Horizon 2020 DD-DeCaF project focused on building bioinformatics services for data-driven desisign of cell factories and communities: as well as project OLEFINE focusing on using cell factories to produce insect pheromones
