Profile

My research group has special interest in chemical biology, i.e. using synthetic chemistry to provide tool compounds for answering biological questions. This overall research theme includes development of synthetic methodology for generation of small molecule libraries, drug delivery including prodrug synthesis, medicinal chemistry, vaccine development, and plant cell wall polysaccharides and polyesters and plant cell wall polysaccharides. Major contributions include synthesis of oligosaccharides related to plant cell wall glycans and their use to characterize mAbs and enzymes; design and synthesis of shape-diverse, sp3-rich HTS compounds and fragments; prodrugs activated by ROS for treatment of inflammatory disease; development of carbohydrate-based vaccines.
