Personal profile

Profile

I am a Sociologist of Technology, Research, and Innovation, specialising primarily in Actor-Network Theory within Science & Technology Studies (STS), as well as China Studies. I have a PhD from Copenhagen Business School (funded by the Sino-Danish Center for Research & Education) along with Postdoc positions from both DTU Wind Energy and Stanford Universityy. My main interest is to try to understand how new technologies are developed and marketed, and to explore how seemingly ‘sustainable’ mundane technologies such as wind turbines can become highly contested not only by local communities, but also by economists, politicians, scientists and engineers. In my research I have conducted ethnographic fieldwork to shed light on socio-technical controversies over wind power development in a Chinese and Danish context, e.g. as they unfold over in Sino-foreign supply chain and R&D collaborations and over the social acceptability of a transformed, and transforming, Danish wind power sector. I have also explored the role of community engagement in an American context, by examining the rise of Community Choice Aggregators, and am currently engaged in a research project at CBS with focus on innovation policies in a Chinese context.
