Personal profile

Profile

I am a microbiologist and bioinformatician with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and over 15 years of experience in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and heavy metal/biocide tolerance research across foodborne pathogens and clinical bacteria. My expertise spans whole-genome sequencing analysis, high-throughput bioinformatics, machine learning applications, and both wet and dry-lab methodologies for resistance surveillance and characterization. I have contributed to advancing AMR detection and genomic prediction capabilities, developed validated bioinformatic pipelines, and strengthened laboratory capacity through reference services at the EU Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance (EURL-AMR). Additionally, I have coordinated worldwide inter-laboratory comparative testing, supervised students at multiple academic levels, and led training initiatives across Europe, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and resulting in several scientific publications, computational tools for drug discovery, and resources that advance AMR research and surveillance.
