Personal profile

Profile

I am a Full Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in the Department of Wind and Energy Systems (DTU Wind), where I lead the Energy Markets and Analytics (EMA) section, comprising over 10 researchers. I also serve as the Head of Studies for DTU’s MSc program in Sustainable Energy Systems, one of the university’s flagship programs.

I am the founder and co-organizer of the annual DTU PES (Power and Energy Systems) Summer School, which brings together PhD students and scholars from academia and industry worldwide. In addition, I serve as an Associate Editor for Operations Research and as a member of ACER’s Expert Group on the EU-wide Flexibility Needs Assessment. I am also a Senior Member of both IEEE and INFORMS.

My research focuses on market-oriented, data-driven approaches to the operation of modern power systems with a high share of renewable energy, in coordination with other sectors such as hydrogen, natural gas, and district heating. It lies at the intersection of optimization, game theory, control, and machine learning applied to energy systems.

The overarching goal is to advance market design, grid services, and coordination mechanisms that enhance the efficiency of integrated energy systems. These innovations aim to go beyond current practices, improving system performance and enabling stakeholders to make better-informed business, trading, and operational decisions by leveraging large-scale data.
