Personal profile

Profile

Fish physiology in relation to lipid nutrition and fatty acids with specific reference to the importance of LC –PUFAs (long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids) on nutrient quality, ontogenic development and short and long term physiological responses in fish larvae or juvenile fish involving pigmentation and stress parameters, inflammatory responses and production of eicosanoids. In specific expertise regarding the influence of dietary lipid content and its composition for conversion and deposition in various tissues

Other information

Dr. Ivar Lund (IL) has specific knowledge of larval fish physiology and lipid nutrition as well as of nutritional requirements for various freshwater and marine fish species. In his PhD IL has characterised the importance and influence of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in relation to quality parameters of sole eggs, larval composition and larval requirements with a specific focus on pigmentation. IL has extensive experience with management of recirculation fish farms and hatching / ongrowing of marine and freshwater fish species both abroad and in Denmark. In Danish Trout breeding IL was responsible for the genetic breeding and selection of families of rainbow trout for the benefit of the Danish trout farmers. During his years in DIFTA he was responsible for planning,- practical implementation and reporting research studies and trials for fish feed producers in Europe.
