Personal profile

Profile

Ida Lykke Fabricius is professor in engineering geology and petrophysics. She holds a B.Sc. degree in geography, a B.Sc. degree in chemistry, an M.Sc. degree in geology (mineralogy), as well as Ph.D. and dr. techn. degrees in engineering geology. After completing her M.Sc. degree, she worked a few years as a petroleum geologist before joining Technical University of Denmark as a teacher/researcher. Her teaching in reservoir geology and applied geophysics is based on research in the same subjects in collaboration with M.Sc. and Ph.D.-students, as well as collaborators from industry and research institutions/universities in Denmark and abroad. The research also includes interpretation of rock mechanical and geochemical information. Ida’s research focus on properties of sedimentary rocks: clay, shale, sandstone and chalk. Chalk has a large technical interest in Denmark as it hosts reservoirs for petroleum and groundwater in addition to serving as a raw material. The studies include rocks from Denmark and the North Sea area as well as material collected during participation in Ocean Drilling Program expeditions to the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean. Ida Fabricius has supervised more than 100 M.Sc. students and more than 20 Ph.D. students. Her research has resulted in several publications in international journals. A present focus of research is the utilization of geothermal energy in Denmark.
