Personal profile

Profile

I am a Senior Researcher in the Coding and Visual Communication group at DTU, where I work on image/video processing and perception — understanding what makes an image visually convincing, and developing methods to measure and improve it.

Much of my work focuses on visual content for human observers: from display technology and backlight optimization to compressed and HDR image quality assessment. Within the framework of the AI-ColorFashion GrandSolution project, I am currently looking into how the perceived quality of compressed images depends on image content, and how it, together with ambient light levels, impact observer preferences. Separately, I work on imaging for diagnosis and defect detection in solar panels using drone-captured electroluminescence imagery. I am part of a research team recognized with several best-poster awards at IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conferences for this work, which connects to UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). I have co-authored more than 50 publications and have contributed as co-supervisor on PhD projects spanning light-field coding, plenoptic display modelling, and AI-based video compression.
