Ashkan Nabavi-Pelesaraei, born on 22 September 1990 in Tehran, Iran, earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Agricultural Mechanization Engineering from the University of Guilan, University of Tabriz, and University of Tehran in 2012, 2014, and 2018, respectively. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in Biosystems Engineering at Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran, and is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Since 2022, Ashkan has been consistently recognized in Stanford University's “World’s Top 2% Highly Cited Researchers” report. In the same year, he earned the title of “Best Research Faculty Member' at Razi University”. Beginning in 2023, his work has been highlighted for two consecutive years in the ESI database (Clarivate) “World’s Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers” report. Most recently, ScholarGPS ranked him as the “4th Most Cited Researcher in LCA Worldwide (2019-2024)”.

Ashkan has authored over 110 publications in leading journals, including Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews (IF: 16.3), Sustainable Production and Consumption (IF: 10.9), Applied Energy (IF: 10.1), Environmental Impact Assessment Review (IF: 9.8), and Journal of Cleaner Production (IF: 9.7), among others. His research has garnered over 6000 citations, with an h-index of 49 and an i10-index of 57 (as of June 2025). He is a member of the editorial boards for Data in Brief (Elsevier) and Sustainability (MDPI) and has served as a reviewer for more than 100 peer-reviewed journals across Nature, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis.

Dr. Nabavi-Pelesaraei has supervised over 20 Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses. His primary research interests encompass life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle costing (LCC), sustainability assessment, agriculture, and waste management.
