Wind energy resource assessment.  Methods for determining and validating global, mesoscale, and local wind energy resources.

Land-surface processes and boundary layer meteorology.  Coupling mechanisms between the land-surface and the atmosphere, land data assimilation, climate response to land surface change. Representation of boundary layer processes and land surface heterogeneity in mesoscale and general circulation models.

Climate and mesoscale atmospheric and land surface modeling.  Using, designing experiments and modifying numerical models of the atmosphere and the land surface.

Mesoscale meteorology and numerical modeling. NWP forecasts verification of regional and local scale weather processes.

Dynamical downscaling. Using mesoscale models of represent regional climate at high resolution.
