Climate change and human diseases call for innovative solutions for a sustainable society. Microorganisms are a prolific resource for developing crop protection agents and new therapeutics.

The Bioactive microbial small molecules research group combines both biological and chemical methods to bioprospect and to exploit new bioactive small molecules from microorganisms. We have particular expertise in working with Streptomyces to discover new natural products by applying both metabolomics and genomics approaches.

For our daily research, we have access to a modern metabolomics platform, equipped with several UHPLCs, high-resolution LC/MS, GC-MS as well as MALDI TOF instrument. We collaborate closely with other research teams, such as the DTU NMR Center which hosts an advanced 800 MHz NMR system.

We provide an exciting training opportunity for students and postdocs who wish to explore the chemistry and genetics of microbial natural products. Through our on-going collaborations with other research groups at DTU Bioengineering, we offer a broad training environment in microbiology, natural product chemistry and biosynthesis.
