COMSOL models for "Computed-tomography-based discrete fracture-matrix modelling: Part 2. Impact of confining stress on flow and solute transport"

Dataset

Description

This set contains the COMSOL models used in the paper "Computed-tomography-based discrete fracture-matrix modelling: Part 2. Impact of confining stress on flow and solute transport".

Ferreira, C. A. S., Darket, A. S., Nick, H. M., 2026. Computed-tomography-based discrete fracture-matrix modeling: Part 2. Impact of confining stress on flow and solute transport. Advances in Water Resources. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.advwatres.2026.105360

The models were created using COMSOL Multiphysics®️ 6.2, build 290 (https://www.comsol.com/comsol-multiphysics). The files in this dataset consider two cases:
- Sample S2S4 under confining stress in the x-direction.
- Sample S2S4 under confining stress in the z-direction.
We also include three COMSOL files with the validation of the flow model (Angot et al., 2009; Antonietti et al., 2019) and permeability upscaling method (Durlofsky, 1991).
