I have been forwarded your mail. As I read your mail you are interested in someone dealing with the regulation. If that is your main interest, I think you should get in touch with a national food authority dealing with the novel food regulation.
I’m a toxicologist interested in natural toxins. For that reason I have been interested in and sometimes concerned about a new trend where people want to pick more wild plants and use them as food without always considering e.g. whether the plants have been safely used before, to check whether it contain toxins or if the plants may be misidentified with poisonous ones.
I have written a few publications (unfortunately most in Danish) that is found on the Institutes homepage. One about Allium ursinum is written in English (attached). Another one in Danish is also attached, so you at least may see the scientific names of the plants.
Journalisten skrev følgende. good morning,
In the announcement for the November Ist conference I can read :
" data on constituents and potential toxic effects of wild plants are limited compared to data on cultivated food plants".
I see that French ANSES will be speaking about its nurtrivigilence program (on industrially made food supplements). However I am more interested in wild plants consumption Would you kindly give me a contact with a scientist working wild plant picking regulation in an European country ? Attached is my résumé
thank you for reading this
