Battle of teh wind generators
Workshop at Wind Energy Denmark 2016, Odense 26-27 October (2016)
Conference day: Day 1 - Wednesday
Date: 26 October, 2016
Time: 14.00 - 15.15 CET
Superconductor wind turbine generators, direct drive generators, medium speed drive trains
What are the options for the future generators of the wind industry? Will copper and silicon steel do? Should we use more advanced materials like permanent magnets or even superconductors?
In this session, the findings of the INNWIND.EU project on superconducting direct drive and pseudo magnetic direct drive will be presented together with state-of-the-art drivetrain technologies. A workshop debate will highlight the pros and cons with a resulting vote on the future drivetrain mix in 2030.
