Description
As part of the national and EU multi annual control programme (MACP) the Danish Food Administration (DFA) annually collects and analysis approximately 2000 samples for residues of pesticides. The pesticide scope for the quantitative methods employed include primarily pesticides authorized for used in Denmark as well as pesticides included in the MACP. As a supplement to this quantitative control, approximate 100 selected samples are further analysed by targeted screening using HRMS LC-QTOF-MS and GC-TOF-MS. The screening scope includedes more than 200 pesticides for which screening detection limits have been established and not included in the quantitative scope. If a pesticide is found several times by the screening, the pesticides will be considered for inclusion in the quantitative control programme. The results obtained by the targeted screening analysis performed over three years (317 samples) are presented. The samples include primarily fruit and vegetables of non-domestic origin and were taken as targeted or non-targeted sampling.
The number of findings of pesticides included in the screenings scope are few and generally only occurring sporadically. Based on the three years of screening only two compounds has been found in several samples and therefore been evaluated as relevant to include in the quantitative control programme. The few findings of the pesticides included in the screeningscope indicate that there would be limited effect of expanding the scope of the quantitative control by these ~200 pesticides. The low frequency of findings compared to the common control also indicate that the pesticides included in the scope for the quantitative national and MACP programme are well chosen.
