Oliver Skou Schwarz and Erik Beyer Paulsen, Design of multi-rotor wind turbine, Bachelor project

    Activity: Examinations and supervisionSupervisor activities

    Description

The goal of this project is to create a prototype of a two-rotor wind turbine designed for testing in a wind tunnel. Multi-rotor turbines show promise in the wind energy field because they create less turbulence downstream from the turbine. In wind farms turbulence reduces energy output, hence reducing it is beneficial. The learning objectives for this project are as follows: - Manage a project - Understand the function of a wind turbine - Calculate the design of the wind turbine’s effect on aerodynamics and effectivity - Design a multi-rotor wind turbine - Test a model turbine using a wind tunnel - Analyze results of tests - Calculate loads and power of the design - Make a CAD model - Writing academically
