Description

The SeqAfrica team hosted this workshop to investigate potential bioinformatics tools that could be well-suited to use in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). This workshop was part of a larger initiative to identify bioinformatics analytical tools that could be used by researchers and technologists with limited WGS and bioinformatics skills, who may also be working in settings with inconsistent internet connection and limited technological and financial resources. The experts invited to this workshop were diverse with respect to geography, gender, and ethnicity, and were joined by representatives from ONT and Theiagen. Together, participants discussed the applicability of tools to their work providing bioinformatics capacity strengthening in LMICs.
