Analysis of extreme wind load conditions using the Larsen model

Activity: Public and private sector consultancyConsultancy

    Description

In this work the main goal is to implement the Larsen model and compare with measurements of estimated extreme wind events with a 50-year return period. The Larsen model predicts a suite of extreme wind load conditions relevant for wind turbine design. The input parameters for the model consist of only statistical wind data, rather than high-frequency measurements that are less available. The model outputs are compared with outputs from data analysis that is made on 1 Hz measurements provided by Goldwind. The measurements are used to find extreme gusts, extreme vertical wind shear conditions and extreme directional change.
