An analytical wake steering model for wind farms

Activity: Talks and presentationsConference presentations

Description

This presentation, given at the Wind Energy Science Conference 2025, introduces a new analytical model for wake steering in wind farms. The model provides a consistent physics-based framework that quantifies both streamwise and lateral velocities without relying on effective yaw angles, separate deflection models, or empirical superposition. By assuming momentum deficit conservation and lateral wake self-similarity, the approach captures key physical insights, including secondary wake steering effects. Comparisons with experimental data and existing models demonstrate improved agreement for both single- and multi-turbine cases.
