Description

Advanced laboratory testing can provide various opportunities to accelerate the roll-out of innovative technology and concepts for modern power systems, and many theoretical and practical challenges need to be assessed. The main focus of this workshop is on advanced laboratory testing methods that are essential to ensure reliability, safety and proper system integration of innovative solutions and technologies for modern power systems applications. These include sophisticated testing approaches based on the combination of simulation and full-hardware testing, also known as the hardware-in-the-loop approach.
There is a need for further investigations to improve and standardize those testing methods. In this regard, this workshop serves as a meeting point between specialists from the industry, academy and research centers to exchange ideas on this specific field. Notably, this workshop will bring together experts around the world to discuss technology, solutions, and state-of-the-art and future trends in advanced laboratory testing. Besides the theoretical knowledge, numerous real-life experiences and examples ranging from early-stage research to daily operations will be provided. To familiarize with these topics, laboratory tutorials will be performed at the Smart Grid Technology Lab and the Protection and Automation Lab of the TU Dortmund University, thus providing relevant hands-on experiences.
